Family Services Supporting the people who support everyone else.
Supporting the people who support everyone else.
Families are often the first source of support, and sometimes they need support too.
ASun Star works alongside parents, caregivers, and families to help them navigate challenges, strengthen relationships, understand their loved one's needs, develop practical skills, and connect with services that can make everyday life easier.
Whether you're looking for counseling, caregiver guidance, respite, education, or simply trying to understand what to do next, you don't have to figure it out alone.

What We Offer
Support designed for real families and real life.
01
Family Therapy & Counseling
Challenges affecting one person can impact the entire family.
Family therapy provides a supportive environment to improve communication, strengthen relationships, work through conflict, navigate transitions, and develop healthier ways of responding to challenges together.
Depending on individual needs, family counseling may be provided alongside other behavioral health services.
02
Parent & Caregiver Training
Understanding why something is happening can change how families respond to it.
Our team helps parents and caregivers develop practical strategies for communication, routines, emotional regulation, behavior, independence, transitions, and other everyday challenges.
The goal is not to turn parents into therapists.
It's to give families tools they can actually use.
03
Respite & Caregiver Support
Caring for someone you love can be rewarding, and demanding.
Respite provides temporary support for an individual while giving caregivers time to attend to other responsibilities, spend time with other family members, rest, or simply recharge.
Services are based on program eligibility, authorization, and availability.
04
Family Education & Workshops
Knowledge helps families feel more confident making decisions.
ASun Star offers educational opportunities, workshops, and learning experiences that may address topics such as:
Understanding autism and developmental disabilities
Mental health and emotional wellness
Managing challenging behaviors
Communication strategies
Parenting and caregiver skills
Trauma and its impact on families
Social and emotional development
Building independence
Transitioning into adulthood
Community resources and supports
Self-care and caregiver wellness
05
Navigating Services & Resources
Finding help shouldn't feel like another full-time job.
Families often encounter unfamiliar systems, terminology, eligibility requirements, providers, schools, insurance companies, and community resources.
Our team can help families better understand available ASun Star programs and connect them with appropriate resources when additional services are needed.
06
Support Across Programs
Family involvement doesn't begin and end on the Family Services page.
Caregiver support is integrated throughout many ASun Star programs, including:
ABA Therapy
Caregiver training and strategies that help skills transfer into everyday life.
Mental Health
Family counseling, education, treatment collaboration, and support.
Children & Adolescents
Family involvement in behavioral, developmental, therapeutic, and enrichment programming.
Adult Services
Collaboration with individuals, caregivers, support coordinators, and other members of the person's support team.
Helping Families Navigate the Journey
Needs change. Support should change with them.
A family's needs can look very different over time.
Families may need help understanding development, behavior, communication, school readiness, or a new diagnosis.
Needs may shift toward school success, social development, emotional wellness, behavior, friendships, independence, and navigating multiple systems of care.
Families may begin focusing more heavily on mental health, identity, relationships, life skills, decision-making, independence, and preparation for adulthood.
The conversation may shift toward employment, community participation, independent living skills, adult services, meaningful relationships, and long-term supports.
ASun Star is designed to support individuals and families through different stages of that journey.

You Know Your Family
We bring our expertise. You bring yours.
Families know their loved ones in ways no provider ever can.
That's why we believe the strongest support happens through partnership.
We listen to what families are seeing.
We learn what's working and what isn't.
We identify strengths.
We talk about what's important.
Then we work together to develop practical strategies and supports that make sense for the individual and the family.
Not around families. With families.
Whole-family support
Support around the whole family
Care works better when caregivers, providers, schools, and community supports stay connected.

Our Approach
Supporting the whole family.
Person-Centered
The individual receiving services remains at the center of planning and decision-making.
Family-Inclusive
Families and caregivers are valued partners when appropriate and desired by the individual.
Strength-Based
We build upon what individuals and families already do well.
Trauma-Informed
We recognize how experiences can influence behavior, relationships, and emotional wellness.
Practical
Strategies should work outside of an appointment, not just during one.
Connected
When multiple ASun Star services are involved, our goal is to create a coordinated experience rather than making families navigate disconnected programs.
ASun Star's approach is:
Practical tools
Strategies families can use
Workshops, counseling, respite, and coaching turn support into usable everyday routines.

Sometimes You Just Need Someone to Ask
Start with the question you have today.
Maybe you know exactly what you're looking for.
Maybe you've been given a diagnosis and don't know what comes next.
Maybe your child's school is concerned.
Maybe your family is struggling.
Maybe you're caring for an adult loved one and need additional support.
Or maybe you don't know what kind of help you need, you just know something needs to change.
Start there.
Tell us what's happening, and we'll help you explore the next step.
